I am studying this book for more than a year. I have even translated most of the text to my native language to be able to study and understand it better. It is a far better book than Mystery of the Cathedrals.
Fulcanelli's definition helped me understand and find the true nature of the substance which is hidden under the name of the salamandre, secret fire of the philosophers. Now, I am almost sure that I know which that substance is. It is a mineral, which is found under the form of a salt in the inner part of a mineral, a stone, a hollow rock. I gave some more clues about that at the other forum.
My main question is the following. We need this secret fire/salamandre to destroy our first matter and extract from it the first mercury/universal solvent, or we need the salamnadre to animate the mercury which we have extracted earlier from our first matter, which means that the secret fire is the same thing with the philosophical gold.
We cannot put all our 'eggs' in the same basket, Fulcanelli is a good author, now, in which limit can we trust him ?
Limojon de St Didier, Le Cosmopolite, le Comte de Trevisan, Le Pdt D'espagnet, Roger Bacon, Denys Zachaire, Michael Maier, Lambsprink, Arnaud de Villeneuve, Raymond Lulle, Kirchweger, and so on, are the basics of Fulcanelli, the form the root of the occidental Alchemy and IMHO, should be related first, instead of the secound or third wave of Alchemical Authors.
Now, I beleive the Salamander is the Spiritus Mundi, the condensed very First Matter under certain conditions.
The Secret Fire is the Mercury used to destroy your matter of the sages. After that, it is your researche. Philsoophale gold is not the Secret Fire. Secret Fire is the First Matter. The salamander, depending of the interpretation, can be the secret fire or the Stone.
